Focus Word: DISCIPLINE,

Last Friday we spoke with the boys of Boy's Talk, concerning the Focus Word: "DISCIPLINE",  Amazed to how many boys thought of Discipline meant something of being bad and being treated when acting out. We explained, it was one form of action and a positive character to have because it train your thoughts to become whatever you dream to be. One word with two different meanings, very close to making choices in life. It set the tone to where you go and what you want. The boys understood it clearly. As we talked more we mentioned another focus word as Leadership and how Discipline played a very important part into becoming a leader.  All the boys want to be leaders and we told them, that they were, by just  showing they actions like with in our daily rules are first before walking in those steps. No Fighting, No Bullying, No Swearing and Yelling. These rule follow us as men for some many reasons thought out their school years.

The boys signed agreement plaque on being a Leader.

We remain excited of the last 8 weeks within school. We have started building teams during morning sessions by playing kickball. They created two names, ( Legions & Captain Stars) very cool names. Next week will try to a trust game and more leadership developing training.

We are looking for program and activities that keep the excitement going. If you would like to share your game and activities, please send an email todeason@communitycharter.org

We spoke to all the boys in open forum discussion and it was surprising to hear that a lot of boy had family member that was direct effected by cancer and talk about their feeling and what was the outcome. The Mentors help explain the why we support causes and different types of others illness and reason that causes are formed. The Boys wanted to do something that say they cared, so we developed some ideas what we can do, One type was wear pink bowties during a  pink walk to show their support toward Breast Cancer.

Focus Word: Apologize, Pink Bowties for Feel Good Monday's

We discussed why it's important to say I'm sorry for missunderstanding at school during our Boy's Talk Mentoring program at Community Charter School. Connecting with Boys on their level while bringing them up right.

Focus Word: Apologize, On Friday, during BTM we talked about saying "I am sorry" and understanding what it means. We went into details who and why we should apologize to each other, in and out the classroom as well as play park and at home.

We also went over "Conflict and Resloustion", that helps out during class, exp,  He has my pencil and he didn't ask me to use it. How do we solve the issues? We talked about it and apologize for taking the pencil and ask to use it.

We introduce Our Creed:

I am young and powerful, I will allow my mind too be taught to become whatever I put my mind to. I am a leader, I will lead others to greatness as I to will become and remain Great. I will do my best at all the times.

We reviewed over our Rules: 1. No Fighting, 2. No Bullying, 3. No Swearing.  We also spoke on ideas on our field trips. Looking to hear some ideas next week. Pink bowties on Feel Good Monday's
